The 5th annual Girls on the Run Birmingham 5K that was held on May 7, 2016 was one for the books! With nearly 850 runners it was the largest Girls on the Run Birmingham 5K yet! We are so proud of all of the girls who worked so hard for months to train to cross the finish line. We can tell from the pictures that you, your coaches and friends were very proud too!

We are honored to announce that the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has awarded Girls on the Run Birmingham a grant of $32,000 as part of their 2015 competitive grant cycle in their priority area of ‘Health: Improve nutrition/health food access and increase opportunities for physical activity’. This generous funding will allow Girls on the Run Birmingham to increase opportunities for participation for girls in Jefferson, Shelby, and St. Clair counties while maintaining quality programming. “We are really excited and encouraged by this support. It is our hope that we are able to provide more girls with access to physical activity and better support our volunteer coaches, who are instrumental to our program.” –Catherine Gregory, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Birmingham.
